MRPP is the paper of 2003My objective when publishing Oracle Response Time Analysis in 2001 was to empower Oracle performance specialists to move forward into a much more comprehensive and industry robust way of diagnosing performance issues. But as with most of my research, I was writing to the practitioner, the person who had a "job to do" and simply did not need to understand all the nuances and intricacies of response time analysis. But for many, a more in-depth and scientifically robust exploration was desired. And this is where this paper really shines. Danisment has taken the concept or the practice of response time analysis and drilled down into core make-up of time accounting for Oracle based systems. This forces one to deal with issues like timing, error, limitations, internal algorithms, and formula development.
If you really want to understand the components and limitations of Oracle response time analysis, than you must read, re-read, and understand this paper. It's a rare gem.

Itrprof Rocks!, The many benefits of the itrprof tool.I heard about the itrprof tool last year after hearing it's praises from noted DBA guru, Tim Gorman. I have used itrprof many times since to analyze performance problems. This tool really rocks - It is by far the best tool available to analyze an Oracle trace file output and really get to the bottom of any database performance bottleneck.
After using this product, I tossed out all my korn shell trace file parsing scripts. I will never bother with tkprof again! Every Oracle shop should be using this product.
